Igor Elizov

Igor Elizov is the keyboard player for the progressive rock band FROM.UZ

Biography:

Igor was born on the 23 of September 1979 in Tashkent. In 1993 he finished Music School on piano. Igor’s youth felt on the end of 80s when in Tashkent there were a number of music bands. And in one of them Igor started his musical life as a bass player. After finishing school he entered Tashkent Medical Institute and music became just his hobby. Same time he started playing at KVN, the Students’ comic theatre. Doing this helped Igor to buy his first professional keyboard, a Korg Trinity. Using it he started making his first arrangements.

In 2000 Igor Elizov was hired in one of Uzbek radio stations as a composer. Working on radio Igor met a number of Uzbek musicians, among whom was Vitaly Popeloff. Igor graduated from university in 2003 and by that time he realized that he wouldn’t work as a doctor. But for his public service to the institute, director of TashMI offered him a postgraduate course of expert in narcomania. While studying there Igor worked at mental hospital for 2 years. But meaning of his life for Igor was music. He took music lessons to improve his skills. His career on radio stopped in 2006.

The first collaboration with Vitaly Popeloff was a Tribute to Pink Floyd where Igor was invited as keyboardist. This project made Igor work hard, because while working in radio he hadn’t play concerts for several years.

Their next collaboration was “4 project” – a concert via Tashkent Style week where Uzbek stars performed western pop songs live, with accompaniment by Vitaly Popeloff, Igor Elizov and Sukhrob Hamraev.

So when Andrey Mara-Novik and Vladimir Badirov left FROM.UZ in 2008 Vitaly invited Igor to the new FROM.UZ line-up as the second keyboardist.

By the words of Igor Elizov, sometimes it is hard for him to play in FROM.UZ, because he likes more melodic music. The epoch of art rock was missed by him and in childhood his favorite bands were the Beatles, Queen and Smokie. But in spite of it Igor, Vitaly and Al have been working together for 2 years and are not planning to part.
